Backyard panorama - facing house

These are pictures of my existing backyard, starting with this overview shot of the backyard facing the house, showing the relative position of the existing deck and patio. The Primary goal is to achieve seclusion from the neighbor to the right (as you face the house from the yard). Secondary goal is landscaping the backyard into something relatively maintenance free, ideally evoking a feeling of a meadow in the coast range or cascades. Eventually, I'd like a waterfall somewhere in the back, feeding a stream to a pool between the existing crabapple shrub and the deck. The concrete pad area, I would like to give a japanese flavor, with the transition given by the stream into a small pool, which becomes a sheer, flat, waterfall into a square pool at the base of the wall. The only things I'm really wedded to are the maple and the hedges, though I like the apple tree in the one corner of the yard and I don't think you could take out the holly in the other corner without doing major damage to the hedge (and I don't mind it anyhow)
