Awarded mutually exclusively - no team will receive more than one prize
from each of the first two categories, each team will be awarded the
highest prize for which it qualifies and is not overridden by another.
All prizes will be awarded (if necessary a team will get more than one
prize). Prizes subject to change without notice.
The "Good Thing" Category
- Overall Champion
- Prize - BikeE Recumbent Bike

This is the team that has the best combination of engineering design,
artistic design, time, course completion, and spirit. In other words,
the top total score in Engineering, Artistry, and Time, plus tie breaking
based on spirit. Donated by BikeE.
- Best Engineering
- Prize - Hewlett Packard Palmtop

This is the team with the best engineering design, unless they are the
Champion, in which case this will be the 2nd best team. Donated by
Hewlett-Packard.
- Best Artistry
- Prize - by Judith Sander

This is the team with the best artistic design, unless they are the
Champion, in which case this will be the 2nd best team. This year's
prize is a soft sculpture created and donated by local artist Judith
Sander. Judith's "dolls" are much more than that - they are whimsical
female figurines with an attitude and this one, titled 'Lucy Lumina -
Road Warrior' and created especially for the KSR art prize, is no
exception. Several judges have already attempted to claim it.

This is the team with the best time, unless they are the Champion, in
which case this will be the 2nd best team. Donated by Yakima Products.
- Local Overall Champion
- Prize - $200

This is the local team that has the best combination of engineering
design, artistic design, time, course completion, and spirit. In other
words, the top total score in Engineering, Artistry, and Time, plus tie
breaking based on spirit, among the local teams. If the winner has
already won another Best prize, then this prize will awarded to the next
best local team. At least three local teams must enter the race for
this prize to be awarded. Local is defined to mean that the majority
of team members who designed and built the machine live within the
Willamette Valley area. Donated by Kinetic Bagel.
The "That's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) I like it" category
- Judges' Favorites
- Prize - Cash (based on $15 donation from each judge,
split between 4 winners)

Each judge gets one vote each for their four top personal favorite teams,
based on whatever criteria each individual judge chooses to use. The
teams with the most votes wins. Bribes help!
- Racers' Favorites
- Prize - Cash (based on $15 of each registration fee,
split between 3 winners)

Each pilot and official pit crew gets one vote each for their 3 top
favorite teams.
- Spectators' Favorites
- Prize - Cash ($50 each - 2 prizes)

These will be awarded to 2 teams selected by a "Spectators' Vote."
Spectators will decide on their favorite sculptures by means of a cunning
and thoroughly democratic voting method.
The "Stranger things have happened" category
- Wizard's Choice

- Cuddly Teddy Bear
- Prize - $42.17

Awarded by the Teddy Bear Judge using their own criteria - if someone
wants to cuddle your teddy bear it may be a good idea to cooperate.

- Prize - $50 Food and Beer and Coveted da Vinci Trophy

This will be awarded to the team with the most VIP votes at the Friday
night opening ceremonies. Trophy by Jane Corbett-Floyd.
